A Call for Courage
A call for courage.
I’m writing this newsletter from Colombia, in a unique landscape where the desert meets the sea. By the time you read this, I will be deep in a death-rebirth initiation ceremony for the next 8 days. A variety of reasons have brought me to this moment, but primarily a deep prayer for all illness to leave my body, which has consumed my day-to-day existence for the last two decades. The search for a cure has taught me so much about healing, igniting my drive to learn and experience many forms of the healing path, and in turn, being of service to others. Yet I pray still for relief, as any creature would, from the pain and confines of chronic illness. If there’s no relief, then acceptance is my next best option and an ocean of my own rage, grief, and perpetual physical suffering has kept me from reaching that space with any regularity.
In the Northern Hemisphere, where most of you are reading this, the light of the Sun is returning. The sleeping bear awakens from her cave with dreams and intentions ready to be given form. What gestated in you all winter? What is ready to take root now? With the sun returning, you may feel your will returning. Or perhaps the trenches we as healers find ourselves in are bearing down on us given the weight of all that is transpiring around us. All of it is welcome to be offered to the light of the Sun.
Wherever you are in the spectrum of life, it is my belief that we are marking a pivot point in our evolution as a species. If you’re fed up and full to the brim and feel like you can’t take anymore, this exact boundary is the catapult for (y)our revolution. Breathe with me. Many of us are deciding what kind of life we want to have here on Earth and standing our ground to support the liberties of all living beings. The pressure is rising and a tidal wave is coming, either towards destruction or ascension (or both?). Either way, something is coming while we simultaneously co-create it. A tipping point.
And so, these times are a call for courage. As astrologer and cosmic guide, Renee Sills of Embodied Astrology describes, courage requires connection to the heart, conscious choice, and that fear be present. It is a choice that connects us to our agency, to our sovereingty when facing fear.
Courage and resistance to fear can wear many robes. We may be conditioned to think of courage as a more masculine, dominating energy, but it encompasses so much more. Resting is defiance. Protecting your peace. Nourishing and hydrating. Boycotting corporations. Exploring natural medicine. Moving your body without an agenda. Letting go of linear time. Deleting social media. Marching for justice. Writing a blog. Singing a song while you cook a meal. Saying no. Dancing with your kids in the living room. Praying for all living beings. Growing your own food. Going to bed early. Lovingly challenging the negative voices in your head. Asking for help. Speaking out. Practicing silence. Interocepting into knowingness. Releasing self-doubt. Being in service to Life wherever and however you can be.
As the old ways are crumbling, we can build anew. And all of this is courageous as long as you choose it consciously.
My own courage is being funneled into facing the rage I have toward my body for being sick and in constant pain, into growing a garden and our own food this year, allowing myself to be seen and heard in my authentic spiritual self, finally launching spaces and workshops to engage in relational-spiritual-ancestral-consciousness work with groups (after 3 years of gestating and hesitating, see newly birthed offerings below!), and daring to rebuild my trust in the human family. All of it fills me with fear. All of it requires feeling what’s in my heart and choosing to show up.

May this Springtime invitation for courage meet you in good health, being rooted in purpose, in stirring what has been still into action, and nudging you to carry the luminescent torch of your heart to support the altar of Life.
I believe in you and us.
Love,
Mari
Our ancestors are calling.
We carry the echoes of those who came before us—their resilience, their wisdom, and at times, their wounds. The weight of intergenerational trauma, shaped by colonization and systemic oppression, lives in our bodies. But so do the gifts, the strengths, and the medicine of our lineage.
This immersive, 5 day experiential retreat is a sacred space for BIPOC Brainspotters and Brainspotting curious professionals to engage in deep ancestral healing. Through Brainspotting, somatic abolitionism, shamanic practices, and energy work, we will metobolize inherited burdens and reclaim the blessings of our lineages.
This is not just a retreat—it is an initiation. A homecoming.
In this in-person 2 day specialty workshop, participants will learn how to utilize low-dose ketamine with Brainspotting therapy, as well as learn how to use Brainspotting in preparation and integration for transpersonal journeys. The workshop will blend one full day of didactic and ethical content and one full day of experiential learning to allow participants an immersive understanding of ketamine’s use and benefits in conjunction with the Brainspotting neuroexperiential model and frame. Walk away with the skills needed to offer low-dose ketamine and Brainspotting sessions to your clients.
This two-day immersive experience is designed for therapists and practitioners who want to enhance their attunement and clinical practice while also applying Brainspotting to their personal process to clear internal blocks and expand into a more grounded, connected, and vibrant state. This workshop harnesses the power of group consciousness to maximize healing. We will focus on resourcing ourselves as practitioners and as a community. Along with Brainspotting theory and practice, we will explore topics of burnout prevention, compassion fatigue, self-care practices, as well as decolonization, ancestral healing, collective trauma, collective healing, spirituality and its place in our practices.
